Video Essay: Roma

This video essay analysed Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma through the lens of global communication, exploring how transnational cinema circulates across borders to shape cultural empathy and representation. The project applied theories of media globalisation and cultural hybridity to examine class, gender, and postcolonial identity within the film’s distribution and reception. It demonstrated the role of visual storytelling as a cross-cultural language that challenges dominant narratives and fosters intercultural understanding.
